Hot Music For Summer
Hot Music For Summer Is Here … at a distance and unplugged!
The first day of summer is almost here, so pack away your parka and pull out the ukulele! Just because we have to social distance this summer doesn’t mean we can’t listen or have a safe summer jam with friends and family.
Summer music festivals are mostly cancelled this year, so chill by the pool, hit the beach bonfire or cruise the back roads with the top down and music cranked way up.
Are you the one with the guitar or uke? Or are you on the keyboard? We’ve put together your Music For Summer Playlist – unplugged and DIY whether you’re making music or just listening. But first, here are four helpful tips to make sure your music line-up is rock solid.
1. Your Audience
Define your audience. Current hits your friends want to hear by the pool probably won’t appeal to your great aunt Elsie, so take into consideration the age range of who will be there. If in doubt, classics are always crowd pleasers. Who doesn’t love the Beach Boys?
2. The Party’s Over Here
Inside? Outside? Surfside? A guitar sing-along by the ocean or lake is super dreamy. But hauling a keyboard and amp from your car, over a dune and across the beach is a drag. So think about the mood and location before you choose which instruments you need.
3. No Repeats
Expand your repertoire! It doesn’t matter how well you know that one great song – people will only want to hear it once. So grow your playlist by choosing popular songs you know the words to and then find the chords or easy sheet music online. And don’t be surprised when everybody jumps in with vocals.
4. Ready, set, play!
Let’s make a set list. Start off with something easy peasy. When the party gets rolling, it’s time to ramp up the volume and the tempo. As the wee hours come around and people get tired, that’s when you’ll know it’s time to scale down the tunes.
